1. Hemming your dress

How long should a wedding gown be?

When you purchase your bridal gown it’s made and designed to a standard size for fit and length. It’s rare to find a bridal gown to fit your perfect length for your height with shoe choice. In your fitting you’ll bring along your bridal shoes to give you your perfect height to allow us to tailor your dress adjustments perfectly for you .

Our bridal gown specialist will level your hem so you’re able to walk and dance easily in your dress on your wedding day. For a slimline fitted bridal gown your dress length will be to the floor, so when you’re walking down the aisle the toe of your shoe just kicks your dress out. Full skirts hover slightly above the floor so  they don’t fold under your feet as you walk.

We always check with you the kind of surface you’ll be walking on down the aisle, as this can determine your length. If your aisle is on grass or if it’s at the beach we’ll discuss with you how this can affect the hem length and other considerations for your hem height.

2. Taking in or Letting out your Wedding dress

Can my wedding dress be taken in?

This is where we make adjustments to mould your dress around your body and make you shine! Taking in your dress customises it to fit your curves, to show off what your mumma gave you!

We can take in your bodice along the seams to enhance your waist, to contour your bust, we can also take in a slimline dress at  the hips and thigh so your gown skims over your hips and buttock to enhance your shape. This is all done along the seams that are existing in your dress, sometimes for extreme fitting or dresses that don’t have many seams shaping can be added with darts or panel lines.

3. Adjusting Strap length

Can my straps be shortened?

Straps or shoulder lengths are another common wedding dress alteration. Our body length can be quite different in length from bust point to shoulder from the standard size the designer uses, this is why your straps seem to be too loose and falling off.

Strap and shoulder length can be shortened to allow you to feel secure and comfortable in your bridal gown on your wedding day.

4. Adding a Bustle

Will I need a wedding dress bustle?

With the magnificence of your wedding gown train for ‘that moment’ when you’re walking down the aisle to your husband-to-be creates a beautifully romantic silhouette. Your photos will be stunning, but once you have enjoyed these moments it’s time to relax and have fun with all those you love!

This is where you will want to bustle your train, for ease of moving around, dancing and so you don’t get tired from having to carry your train all night.

In your bridal alterations fitting we will determine the position of your bustle, depending on your style of dress we will suggest the different bustle styles. The bustling process will be shown to you and anyone who will bustle your dress on your wedding day.
